We are pleased to announce that we hold a research colloquium each term. The ICB research colloquium offers a valuable opportunity for you to present and share your research proposal with faculty and fellow students. It’s a platform to showcase your academic progress, receive constructive feedback from our research staff, and engage in insightful discussions about your work. Participating in the colloquium will help you sharpen your critical thinking skills and deepen your understanding of the research process.
If you want to present your research proposal, please prepare a clear and concise PowerPoint (PPT) presentation. Your presentation should highlight key aspects of your project, including your research question, methodology, and potential contributions to the field. Visual aids like graphs and charts are encouraged to help illustrate your points. After each presentation, attendees can ask questions and provide feedback, further enriching their research insights.
The presentation should not exceed 15 minutes. If you wish to sign up, click the link at the end of this announcement and complete the registration form. Please ensure that your research proposal is submitted at the time of registration. The registration and proposal submission deadline is one week before the colloquium, giving us ample time to review your work and offer guidance. Your PPT slides must be submitted to the ILIAS platform no later than three days before the colloquium.
Our research colloquium for the Winter Semester 2025/26 will be held on November 14th, 2025, and January 30th, 2026, Fridays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in Phil. I, Room B410. If you are a BA or MA student in the ICB program and would like to learn more about writing a thesis under Prof. Luo’s supervision, please join us for the Thesis Kickoff Meeting on October 24th (Friday) from 8:15 to 9:45 AM, also in Phil. I, Room B410.
When preparing your proposal, please follow the thesis guidelines and refer to the suggested topic list (see Ilias). Click here to register for a colloquium. If you have further questions, please contact us at icb@anglistik.uni-giessen.de.
